There is an internal element, similar to a kettle or boiler, that heats the water on demand. Great for houses with many occupants, that may otherwise run out of hot water. Pros & Cons They heat water on demand. No need for a large hot water storage tank. They require electricity to run. The shower unit can be quite big if you're not used to it.
