EV charger installation in Lytham & the Fylde Coast
A 7kW home charger is roughly 4× faster than a 3-pin plug and far safer for daily use. Here's what installing one in Lytham, Blackpool or St Annes actually involves in 2026.
What it costs
A standard 7.4kW tethered charger (Ohme, Hypervolt, Easee, Zappi) supplied and fitted on a typical Lytham semi-detached is £800 – £1,100 all-in. Untethered units are about £50 cheaper. Long cable runs, consumer unit upgrades or earthing rod requirements add cost — we quote those after a free site survey.
Are grants still available?
The OZEV grant for homeowners with off-street parking ended in 2022, but you can still get up to £350 if you're a flat owner, renter or live in a property with shared parking. Landlords can claim up to 200 sockets per year through the EV Chargepoint Grant for landlords.
7kW vs 22kW — which do you need?
Almost every Fylde Coast home is on a single-phase supply, which caps you at 7.4kW. 22kW chargers need three-phase, which the DNO (Electricity North West) will usually quote £3,000+ to install. For overnight charging at home, 7kW is plenty.
How long does it take?
Most jobs are a single day — sometimes half a day if your consumer unit is modern and the run is short. We notify the DNO automatically (an installer requirement under regulation 18) and hand you the commissioning certificate before we leave.
